Lecture Announcement
Richard Hilliard, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Illustration, will be giving a lecture on his recent research and illustration of children's books. Richard Hilliard received his BFA from Pratt Institute in 1984. For nearly twenty years, he was an Art Director and Illustrator in the New York metropolitan area. He has designed everything from toys to robotic displays for theme parks, and has illustrated projects for clients ranging from Universal Studios and Warner Bros. to Marvel and DC Comics. He received his MA in illustration from Syracuse university in 2003. His first illustrated book for children, Neil, Buzz, and Mike Go to the Moon , was very well received and his second book, Godspeed, John Glenn , was just released. In 2007, his third book, Ham, the Astrochimp, will be published. In 2005 and 2006, Assistant Professor Hilliard was selected as featured children’s book author at the Smithsonian Institution’s annual Space Day celebration.
